An Exercise on the Sacrifice Syndrome: Where Am I?

Am I

  1. Working harder with less result?
  2. Getting home later or leaving home earlier each day?
  3. Feeling tired, even after slepping?
  4. Having trouble falling asleep, or waking up in the middle of the night?
  5. Finding less time (or no time at all) for the things that used to be enjoyable?
  6. Rarely relaxed, or only really relaxed with alcohol?
  7. Drinking more coffee?

Have i noticed change in myself or my relationships, such as:

  1. I can no longer really talk about my problem with my spouse
  2. I dont care what i eat, or wheter i eat too much or too little
  3. I cant remember the last time i had a long conversation with a trusted friend or family member?
  4. My children have stopped asking me to atend their functions or games
  5. I no longer attend my place of worship or find time for quiet contemplation
  6. I dont exercise as much as i used to
  7. I dont smile or laugh as much as i used to

Do I:

  1. Have frequent headaches, or pain?
  2. Routinely take over-the-counter antacids or painkillers?
  3. Feel as if nothing i do seems to matter anymore, or have the impact i want?
  4. Feel as if no one can understand what i need to do, or how muck work i have?
  5. Sometimes feel numb or react to situation with inappropriately strong emotions?
  6. Feel too overwhelmed to seek new experiences, ideas, or ways of doing things?
  7. Frequently think about how to “escape” my current situation?
